In the book written
by Dr. Tim, he describes multiple models of heart disease outside
of high blood pressure and cholesterol models. One will be highlighted
here; the others are discussed in the book and on our blogs.
American men and women are dying at an alarming
rate from heart disease, which means the current health care
model may be ineffective to say the least. Hypothyroidism, a
condition in which the thyroid is under functioning, and is most
commonly found during routine blood work, is an unknown risk
factor for heart disease. A sizable portion of the patients suffering
from high cholesterol and triglycerides (fat) do not know the
correlation between low functioning thyroid and heart disease.
In hypothyroidism, both the production and breakdown of fats
are slowed, but the breakdown of fat is significantly slower
than the creation, which often results in higher total cholesterol,
triglycerides and LDL. Anytime a person presents with elevated
cholesterol, the thyroid function must he checked.
Other possible causes of cardiovascular disease
are infections, blood sugar imbalances, adrenal burnout/fatigue,
diabetes, insulin resistance and many others. If you are suffering
from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, or
want to prevent heart disease, schedule an appointment to find
out what might be missing before it's too late. In order to truly
prevent heart disease you must explore each model and their associated
risk factors. True prevention is found by looking for the root
cause of the symptoms and not just by treating the symptoms (blood
pressure and cholesterol).
